Ola!! So today I did it!! I actually went and gave my two weeks notice and it felt great! Finally I feel free!!
I am packing my bags and in exactly two weeks I will be headed back to Florianapolis, Brazil to study Portuguese and hopefully find some sort of employment.
To be completely honest, I am a little terrified of this adventure (I’m excited too!) but don’t want to come back with no prospective jobs and no basic Portuguese skills whatsoever. I’m allowing myself to spend $4,000 of my savings before I come back to Chicago. Thankfully, my flights are very cheap (less than $200 from Chicago to Florianapolis thanks to sky miles - shout out Chase United Card!) and I plan on staying in hostels at $20/day.
So this is the beginning of my story. This blog is meant to journey my task of learning Portuguese, survive in a city that barely speaks English, find a job, and practice my surf skills all while not blowing my entire life savings. Plus, if you know me at all, a few shenanigans may occur :-) boa noite!!!
